Routine maintenance on the bridge’s anti-icing systems will add some traffic changes to I-580 for the next few days.
Interstate 580 interchanges will be reduced to one lane south of Reno between Nov. 5-7 as the Nevada Department of Transportation performs maintenance.
Sections of the road will be reduced to one lane between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on those three days between Highway Mt. Rose and old exit 16 on US 395-ALT.
The lane closures will only be in one direction on the interstate.
While the lanes are reduced, the speed limit will also be reduced to 55 mph through the work zone.
Drivers in the area should expect moderate travel delays.
NDOT advises that the work schedule is subject to change.
Crews will be cleaning and refreshing the automatic anti-icing systems on the four I-580 bridges between the Mt. Rose and the Bowers Mansions area.
The system is converted from a summer water solution to a winter solution each year and then back again for summer time.
The anti-icing system helps to slow the formation of ice on the surface of the bridges.
