LAMAR, COLORADO – The Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Lancer Rodeo Team travels to Lamar, Colorado for “The Antelope Run” and the college’s final rodeo of the fall season. The Lancers battled through tough conditions, including rain and mud, to qualify 12 for Sunday’s finals.
The EWC women’s team placed second over the weekend with 250 points. The EWC Lancer men’s team tied for third and fourth for the weekend with 235 points.
The top three finishes this weekend in team riding consisted of at least one Lancer.
In team riding, sophomore Brenna Herring of Veteran had a great weekend with partner Kaegan Gilbert of the University of Wyoming. The team had a great run in the mud in the long lap with a time of 7.7 seconds to place second.
Herring and Gilbert returned on Sunday and produced another stellar run of 7.9 seconds to win the short game and take first place in the average standings.
Nick Albrecht, a freshman from Sheridan, ran an 8.6-second run in the long race with partner Keaton Hayden (of Gillette College) to place them fourth. In the short race, the team had a time of 9.2 seconds, placing second in the weekend average.
Jace Hurlburt and Eli Leppel turned in solid efforts for the team average as the two EWC Lancers recorded a good run of 10.5 seconds to place eighth in the long class. The team returned 10.9 seconds on Sunday to place third in the average standings.
c tie-down roping, sophomore Colton Zimmerman had an 11.3-second run to place second in the long start. On Sunday, Zimmerman had a 16.2-second run to place fourth in the average standings. Cade Tarr, a freshman from Rosette, Wyoming, had a good long lap run of 14.9 seconds to earn eighth in long and 10th in mid for the weekend.
In the Bulldogs, sophomore TC Hughson ran a 5.1-second run to place third in the long drive. In the short game, Hewson had little luck in the mud and finished the weekend ninth in the average standings.
EWC’s Teagan Gourneau ran a 7.2-second run to tie for eighth and ninth in the long start. After a great run of 5.5 seconds on Sunday, that put him fourth in the average standings.
Bridger Amiot had a consistent weekend in the Bulldogs. The sophomore had a 5.6-second run to place fourth coming into the short chase and recorded another great run of 5.9 seconds to place third in the average.
In the barrel event, sophomore Kamryn Kochian recorded a run of 18.55 seconds to place third in the long round. Kocian returned on Sunday with a time of 18.6 seconds to place third in the short pursuit. Kocian’s combined time over two heats was 37.15 seconds and tied her for second and third in the average.
In the bareback, Cian Daly had a score of 64 to place 10th in the long stroke. After having NS in the short run, Daly finished with a 10th place average for the weekend.
Isabelle Comino of Buffalo, Wyoming posted a fast time in the long 3.5 seconds to place eighth. Unlucky in the short course, Camino finished the weekend eighth in the average standings.
The Lancers have finished competing for the fall, but will continue to practice until the Black Jeans and Gold Buckle Gala on Nov. 22.

• Bareback Riding – Cian Daly in 11th place.
• Goat Tying – Abby Colon and Isabelle Camino tied for 18th.
• Tie-down roping – Colton Zimmerman fourth, Carter Anderson 10th, Cooper Phillips 23rd.
• Battle of the Wheels – Tyden Gorsuch seventh, Bridger Amiot 12th, Wyatt Heiney 14th, Teagan Gourneau 16th and TC Hewson 19th.
• Team roping head – Jace Hurlburt fourth, Brenna Herring seventh, Edgar Aguilar 12th and Carter Anderson 14th.
• Team roping, slope – Nick Albrecht second, Eli Leppel third, Colton Zimmerman 13th and Dalton Moore 14th.
• Barrel Racing – Griffin Grooms fifth and Camryn Kocian 11th.
The EWC women’s team is ranked fourth behind Gillette College, The University of Wyoming and Chadron State College.
The EWC men’s team is ranked sixth behind UW, Casper College, Gillette College, CWC and Chadron State.
