Kylie Jenner’s 6-year-old daughter Stormi not just take a look like her mother’s mini-me — she acts like that too! The Kylie Cosmetics founder has been playing around with makeup since the earliest episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashiansand now her daughter is also obsessed with beauty.
“There were one or two beauty influencers on YouTube that showed you how to do eyeshadow,” she said in a new cover story with El. Now, “girls are getting great in their makeup. These 12-year-olds do amazing make-up! Even my daughter is so interested she wants to play with the make-up and she’s six.’
To be fair, I too loved playing with makeup as a kid long before the influx of beauty influencers and Sephora youth. Still, the perfect beauty ideals being presented to kids at younger and younger ages — which Jenner herself helped perpetuate with her infamous lip kits — can be troubling. That’s part of the reason she’s focused on keeping her young daughter off social media as much as she can.
“When I share my kids, I want it to come from me or their dad,” she said Elreferring to her ex Travis Scott. She also shared her rule: “It’s not social for as long as possible.” Stormy will come home and know all the TikTok dances. I’m like, “How did you learn that?” Jenner added that her ideal time for her kids to get their own accounts is when they “move out of the house.”
The Khy founder understands the pressures and body image issues that can come from spending too much time online, admitting that she had postpartum depression after becoming pregnant at 19 and watching her body change. Jenner is now feeling confident 2 1/2 years after welcoming her son Ayer.
“I haven’t had a baby in a few years. The first part of my twenties was having kids, learning what my personal style was, and then losing it—I didn’t know how to dress, gaining 60 pounds for both pregnancies. It took me a year to feel like myself again,” she said. “At 27, I feel more confident and more like myself than ever before.”
Stormi herself has helped her mother overcome some of her body image issues. In a 2023 interview with The Wall Street Journalrevealed the multi-millionaire, “My daughter has totally taught me so much more about myself and seeing myself in her has changed everything. I’ve had so much growth and I’m just embracing natural beauty.”
With Jenner’s take on natural beauty, plans to monitor social media for her kids, and an early spotlight experience to draw from, we’re hoping Stormi can keep makeup fun and playful. while growing up. You love watching it!
