Baton Rouge, La. (First Louisiana) – Oshun’s Crem parade returns to let the good times roll on the streets of northern Baton Rouge for the fifth year after about two weeks.
The organizers of the parade say this is a way to bring history to the city. This year, the topic is “civil -minded” related to voting and election rights. The Grand Marshall is a region of 2 Advisor Anthony Kenny.
Cray Byron Washington President said they were doing things a little different this year.
“It will be like a day of surprise,” Washington said.
Paradegoers can expect to see about a dozen groups of Baton Rouge Middle and High School, which march in the parade.
“Baton Rouge has its own unique way to make Mardi Gras. You can really see this demonstrated in our parade, “Washington said.
After the parade, there is a festival with sellers to strengthen the local economy in the northern part of Baton Rouge.
“We will have people coming from all over the food region, gifts, trinkets, and fun,” Washington said.
