Buck and Lily again together, 45 years later.

Today, Amy Irving has announced a new album called “Always Be” which is an album of covers that are her interpretations of 10 Willie Nelson Songs. They were all suggested by Willie and he was also presented to the guitar of “Angel that flies too close to the ground”, which, of course, was performed in the 1980 movie in which they participated in, HoneysuckleS

The movie included Willie as country star Buck Bonham and Amy Irving in the role of Lily Ramsay, who went together and ultimately has an affair, although Bonham has a wife and son back home.

“The album of Amy Irving’s sophomore” Always Be “is officially on the way, arriving on April 25. This project, in collaboration with her group, the GOOLIS orchestra, is incredibly close to Amy’s heart, presenting 10 renamed classics by her dear friend Catalog and Willy Nelson’s cooperation with some truly incredible artists, including Willie, Amy Helm, Louis Cato, Steve Earl, Chris Pierce and Lizzie No.

And there is more … The first single “Always be” (with the participation of the mental Amy Helm) is out today! This bitter song is a heartfelt respect for Amy’s late friend, Judy Nelson.

“Judy Nelson was a great love in my life. Blessed friendship, I miss every day. I sing this song for her and I know she dances. “

In a new interview with VarietyIrving says she and Willie have remained friends for decades and have been talking almost daily. He was also presented on a song on her debut album Trunk Two years ago and subsequently sent his ideas for other songs that he could sing:

“We have remained friends all these decades. We have been in the life of each other all this time. He is one of my favorite people, one of my best friends. We are almost in communication every day. Willie sent me a bunch of songs that I thought I should sing, and I chose the 10 I want to sing.

Somehow I wanted a trajectory: first you meet someone, you go through life together, you lose them – I just thought I could tell this story with his songs. “

She also said Variety This music is her current focus and she plans to continue singing and performing in the foreseeable future. Irving’s son Gabriel Barreto produces the album and she says most of the songs she has chosen are “very personal”, in particular the cover of Angel, flying too close to the ground, which Willie wrote about his character in the movie.

This is a neat concept and obviously there is a red Stranger approval, so if you are interested in hearing these updated versions of the Willie Nelson Classics, the album will be released everywhere on April 25.
