The 2024-25 NBA season is off to a brilliant start with teams battling it out in the Eastern and Western Conferences. Before the start of this season, many changes were made to the lineups of the various teams. The most notable change was Klay Thompson leaving the Golden State Warriors after spending 13 seasons with them.
Thompson decided to join the Dallas Mavericks during the 2024 NBA Free Agency after having a mediocre 2023-24 NBA season. His poor stats led to the Warriors not renewing his contract and opting for him to leave the franchise. However, a former player Gilbert Arenas doesn’t understand why the Warriors let the future Hall of Famer leave.

Interestingly, Klay Thompson had a humiliating scoreless effort against the Sacramento Kings in the game round the previous season. That particular performance probably sticks out too much in the Warriors’ memories despite his strong stats throughout the season. On the other hand, Thompson has settled with the Mavs and is offering great sums for them.
He was enjoying his time with his new teammates, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Thomspon previously said he was looking forward to playing with the star duo. Turns out he was taking a much lower salary to play in Dallas. So far, things are going well for the four-time champion.
Klay Thompson made NBA history during the Mavs-Rockets game
Some people were worried about Klay Thompson during the preseason because of his shooting issues with the Dallas Mavericks. His shooting struggles included a 0/9 effort against the Los Angeles Clippers. However, Thomspon improved his game as the season began. The Mavs star performed admirably alongside teammates Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
In the four games Thompson has played in, he has averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.3 3PM. Not only that, after their last game against the Houston Rockets, Thompson made NBA history. Thomspon became the 6th player in NBA history with 2,500 3-pointers and is just a few away from the 5th position held by Reggie Miller.

That being said, Thompson plans to win a decorated 2024-25 NBA title with the Mavs. The Mavs added him to their roster because he has a vast track record of winning NBA titles in his career. All eyes will be on Thompson to deliver in the 2024-25 NBA season for his new country.
