The Care Inspectorate hailed Burnside House Nursery in a positive report published this week following an unannounced visit to the Kilwinning Road facility in August.
The report highlighted that staff were “kind, caring and caring” as the childcare service received “good” marks in four areas assessed – staff, leadership, their environment and care, play and learning .
During the inspection, the guard spoke to 11 children using the crèche, as well as five of their families. They also interacted with staff and management while observing their practices.
The Good rating, the third highest rating the Care Inspectorate can give, means the nursery in Irvine has shown a number of important strengths which clearly go beyond areas for improvement.
The report explained: “The children were happy, safe and secure in the care of staff who knew them well. Staff developed positive relationships with the children and were responsive to their emotional and well-being needs.
“When the children needed comfort or reassurance, the staff were kind, caring and caring, ensuring their needs were met.
“They listened to the children and respected their choices and wishes, such as asking the children for permission to help with their personal care.
“Staff have been developing as a team following the recent recruitment of new staff. The manager worked well to ensure stability of the service and supported the staff to form as a new team.
“The management team is committed to improving service quality and has identified areas for improvement.”
This latest report continues the trend of improvement for the Burnside House team, which previously received poor marks from the watchdog.
A report of this nature was published in early 2022, but the findings have since evolved significantly.
