Killed teacher and student, 6 injured in the Wisconsin School Shooting – AOL

Madison, wis. (WFRV) – A teenager’s student opened a gun fire on Monday at a Christian school in Wisconsin, killing a teacher and another teenager in the last week before the Christmas vacation. The shooter also died, police said.

The shooting took place in a study hall and was reported to police by a second -grader, police said at a press conference on Monday night. Wisconsin police identified the shooter as a 15-year-old student.

Six others were injured and treated at the hospital, including two students who were in a critical, life -threatening condition.

“But these are just the physical injuries we know about,” said Madison police chief Sean F. Barnes. “There will be other injuries that we have to face for a very, very long time.”

During a higher press conference, police initially said five people had been killed. However, later, they explained that this was a mistake.

Police received a call reporting an active shooter shortly before 11 o’clock on Monday. When officers arrived, they found many victims of firearms.

Police said the shooter, identified as Natalie Rupow, was dead by obvious suicide when officers arrived. Barnes refused to give details of the shooter, partly with respect for the family.

He also warned people not to share unconfirmed reports on social media about the identity of the shooter.

“What he does helps to erode confidence in this process,” he said.

Authorities said the investigation was active and continued.

Investigators did not immediately know the motive for the shooting, Barnes said.

“I don’t know why and I have the feeling that if we knew why, we could stop these things to happen,” he said.

Barnes said the detectives were: “It works hard to find as many answers as possible.”

School firing from teenage women were extremely rare in the history of the United States, with men in their teenagers and the 1920s carrying out the vast majority, most of them, according to David Ridman, founder of the K-12 shooting database at school.

In a blog publication last year, he pointed out a handful of school shootings involving perpetrators who identify themselves as women, including a 16-year-old girl who shot and killed two and wounds several others in San Diego elementary school in 1979.

The Madison Police Chief put an end to the agency’s third press conference for the day, asking people to focus their attention on the abundance of the Christian school community of life.

“These children are already the most unit survived by school shooting,” Barnes said. “This time, unfortunately, in Madison, Wisconsin.”

School employees have not yet decided whether the hours will start again this week. Barbara Waers, principal of elementary and school relations for the Christian school for an abundance of life, said Monday began the last week of school before the winter vacation.

She said their goal is to gather school staff earlier this week and then try to have some community opportunities to re -connect students.

The Christian school is plentiful in a 420 kindergarten to 12th grade, according to school administrators. It was the last week at school scheduled for the year before the Christmas vacation.

In a statement, President Joe Biden pointed out the tragedy in summoning Congress to undergo universal background inspections, a national red flag law and certain restrictions on weapons.

“We can never accept meaningless violence that traumatizes children, their families and tears entire communities,” Biden said.

Wisconsin governor Tony Evers said he was “unthinkable”, that a child or teacher would go to school and never return home.

“Target violence is prevented… When someone holds school firing, they just don’t click, they don’t only decide to get involved in this outrageous behavior instead, they make a decision and start research and plan for an act of violence,” Trish said Kilpin, CEO of the School Safety Service (OSS) in Wisconsin (OSS).

It has been the most of the dozens of school firing in the United States in recent years, including especially deadly in Newtown, Connecticut; Parkland, Florida; And Uvalde, Texas.

The firing began ardent debates to control the gun and killed the nerves of parents whose children grow accustomed to doing active workouts for shooters in their classrooms. But school shootings have done a little to move the needle under national weapons laws.

Firearms were the leading cause of death among children in 2020 and 2021, according to KFF, a non -profit purpose that explores health problems.
