LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – A Laredo woman has made it her mission to advocate and raise cancer awareness, prevention and education.
For October, KGNS+ is honoring Patti Vella, volunteer and cancer advocate for the American Cancer Society in Laredo and Pan-Can in San Antonio.
Vella became involved in the cause when her husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
As she sought help and guidance, she was able to meet many other families who were also going through the battle.
Fortunately, her husband is now cancer free and Vella uses her experience to help others in the community.
“I am speechless and it is very difficult for me to be. But I’m very grateful, as I said. I’m not doing this alone. I have amazing family and friends and an incredible amount of volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty with me,” Vella said.
Vela continues to help families in the Gateway City by being a voice and guide to those who need it most
We’ll learn more about her family’s journey with cancer and how you can join the cause during our 10pm show on Tuesday 29 October.
