Kentucky State Police capture suspect in Hardin County who led officers on chase – WBKO

GLENDALE, Ky. (WAVE) – Police arrested a man who fled a traffic stop in Hardin County Thursday night, but not for lack of trying.

Kentucky State Police say a man was pulled over by a KSP trooper near Mammoth Cave in Hart County on October 24. He drove more than 20 miles north before crashing the car into a corn field in Glendale.

“It was a little nerve-wracking because we knew the suspect was nearby,” said Jenny Rotten, who works at one of the nearby businesses.

Those businesses were locked down for hours while police searched for the suspect, who was believed to be armed and dangerous.

Homeowners were told to stay indoors and freeways turned into parking lots while police set up a perimeter to locate the suspect.

“The interstate was closed,” Rotten said. “There was really no traffic in and out of the area.”

Authorities from the Elizabethtown Police Department, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and the Kentucky State Police used helicopters, drones and officers on the ground to locate the suspect.

He was captured around 7 p.m. No injuries were reported.
