The Boise State men’s basketball team has kept its NCAA tournament in the greatest hopes on Wednesday night with a win with 86-78 Mountain West Conference over New Mexico.
Alvaro Cardenas, Pearson Carmichael and Tyson Degenhart have all have career dinners for broncos (18-8, 10-5), which are up to No. 49 in the Kenpom ranking after the victory.
According to Kenpom, Boise State ranks 45th on a national scale on an offensive rating and 63rd on a defensive rating. Broncos has MWC’s second best crime while ranked third in defense.
New Mexico (22-5, 14-2), the MWC leader in Kenpom at No. 39, had his own winning series of eight games, clicked by Boise State. Lobos have an advantage with one game over Kenpom No. 42 Utah (23-4, 13-3) in the MWC ranking.
San Diego State (18-6, 11-4), No. 41 in Kenpom, is bound by No. 69 Colorado State (17-9, 11-4) for third place.
Joe Lunari of ESPN had three MWC teams included in his last NCAA tournament field of 68: New Mexico (nine seeds), Utah (nine seeds) and San Diego (11 seeds). Boise State was not among the first eight of lunar.
