The location of Topeka’s Joann Fabrics will remain open, although the company has announced that it will close about 500 stores nationwide.

The announcement comes after the company started bankruptcy production on January 15 and the “right” print of the store in the United States began.

“It was a very difficult solution, given the main impact we know will have on the members of our team, our customers and all the communities we serve,” a Joan spokesman said about the closure.

Joan said the decision at which places would end after analyzing the effectiveness of the store, as well as a “future strategic adaptation” for the company.

According to the company’s main website, Joan operates about 850 stores in 49 states.

Which Joan shops in Kansas will be closed?

Three stores have been announced in Kansas among those who will close, including those in Salina, Lawrence and one of the two places in Wichita.

Other places in the state, including Topeka, 1133 SW Wanamaker Road, Suite 200 and the Kansas City region will remain open at the moment.

Frequently asked questions to the client on the company’s restructuring website said that business sales are likely to start in affected stores starting February 15th.

“Meanwhile, Joann Stores and Joann.com are open in the usual course and continue to serve customers,” the frequently asked questions said. “Team members continue to receive payment and benefits.”
