Jesse Waters’ sexist remarks about ‘White dudes for Harris’ baffle his Fox News panel – AOL

Fox News host Jesse Waters touches on the recent White Dudes for Harris call, suggesting that men who vote for a female candidate based on her gender are “childish,” have “mommy issues,” or are just “trying to be accepted by other women” – to the great surprise of the co-hosts.

On Tuesday’s episode of The fiveWaters criticized a recent Zoom conversation made up of thousands of white men, including celebrities and lawmakers, calling it “a wrestling session for pale, hairy, slacker California entertainers.” Waters heavily mocked The White Dudes at Harris’ fundraiser, which took place on Monday. He jokingly suggested that white men who support Democratic campaigns are not doing so for political reasons, but are instead trying to appease women.

“It basically said, ‘If you want to be accepted by women, you have to vote for a woman,'” Waters said.

The Fox News host went a step further, offering a satirical hypothesis as to why the people on the Zoom call were supporting Harris’ presidential campaign.

“To be a man and then vote for a woman just because she’s a woman is either childish, or that guy has mommy issues, or he’s just trying to be accepted by other women,” Waters said.

Co-host Dana Perino interjected, “What?” before Waters continued.

“And I’ve heard scientists say the day a man votes for a woman, he actually becomes a woman,” Waters said sarcastically.

Perino replied in the same tone, “Oh, really?”

The White Dudes for Harris fundraiser was organized by men who want to break the mold of their demographic’s traditional voting patterns. Actors Mark Ruffalo, Josh Gad, Mark Hamill and Jeff Bridges joined lawmakers like Pete Buttigieg and North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper in the call to help raise money for Harris’ campaign. In total, he brought in $4 million.

White men traditionally vote Republican. A Pew Research Center survey found that 40 percent of white men voted for Biden in the 2020 election, but only 32 percent for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

Much of the appeal has focused on the ability of white men to change the narrative and vote for policies they agree with in the Democratic Party—regardless of the candidate’s gender or race.

Although Waters’ comment was mostly exaggerated, there seemed to be a hint of honesty in the undertone.

“I don’t see why any man would vote Democrat, it’s not the party of virtue, it’s not the party of security, it’s not the party of strength, it’s definitely not the party of the family,” Waters said at one point.

Co-host Janine Pirro echoed some of Waters’ arguments, claiming the group of white men voted for Harris because of “white guilt,” but mocked Waters’ point about men becoming women because they vote for a woman . Drawing on her own experience running for the U.S. Senate and New York attorney general, Pirro told Waters, “The men who voted for me didn’t become women.”

Waters clarified that his comment was aimed at men who vote for a woman only because she is a woman.

A Fox News spokesperson told the Huffington Post that “Anyone who watched the entire segment could obviously tell that he [Watters] was joking, which also became clear later in the discussion.
