Oscar -winning actor Jean Hakman, his wife and their dog seemed to have been dead for some time when they were found at their home in a US staff in New Mexico, police say.
The 95-year-old hackman was discovered on Wednesday afternoon in a side room near the kitchen of the house in Santa Fe while his wife Betsy Arakava, a 63-year-old classic pianist, was found in Banya.
Authorities say there are no signs of injury, but consider deaths to be “sufficiently suspicious” to investigate. No cause of death.
In a wide -ranging career, Hakman won two Oscar awards for the French relationship and unforgivable.
Three of Hakman’s children confirmed their father’s death and dn Arakava in a statement to the BBC.
“He was loved and delighted with millions around the world because of his brilliant acting career, but for us he was always only a dad and a grandfather. We will miss him strongly and we are devastated by the loss,” said Elizabeth, Leslie and Ani Hakman.

Santa Fe Sheriff’s Sheriff’s service confirmed the death.
“On February 26, 2025, approximately 1:45 pm, Santa Fu County MPs were sent to Old Sunset Trail at Hyde Park, where Jean Hakman, his wife Betsy Arakava and a dog were found,” the office said.
At a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Santa Fe Fai County Sheriff said: “There was no immediate sign of a fake game. I haven’t ruled out that yet.
“This is an investigation, so we keep everything on the table.”
A police detective who responded to the scene said he believed that the couple had been dead for some time because of the “decomposition” of Da -Arakava and the “mummification” in the arms and legs.
“The male MP also showed obvious signs of death, similar and in accordance with the female stunning,” the search order said.
There was a portable heater near the head of Dja Arakawa, which the detective determined that it could be removed in case it dropped sharply to the ground.
A recipe bottle and scattered pills were on the bathroom countertop near her body. The couple’s German shepherd dog was found dead in a closet in Banya near G -Arakava.
The hackman was found, wearing gray bottoms of the tracksuit, a blue long -sleeved T -shirt and brown slippers. Sunglasses and walking cane were next to the body.
The detective suspects that the actor has fallen suddenly.
The circumstances of their death were “sufficiently suspicious in nature to require a thorough search and investigation,” said the search order, as the person who called the emergency services found the front door of the property open.
But nothing appeared inside, according to the detective. There was no indication that the home had been dug or that some items had been removed.
Two other, healthy dogs were found, roaming the property – one inside and one outside.
APThe local utility program responded and found no signs of gas leakage in the area. The fire service does not find an indication of carbon monoxide leakage or poisoning, according to the search order.
The detective speaks at the scene of two maintenance workers, one of whom called the emergency services.
The two workers said they sometimes do a routine job in the property, but rarely ever saw the couple.
They pointed out that they had communicated with them by phone and text, mainly with Gia Arakava.
The two workers said they had last had contact with the couple two weeks before.
A 911 conversation recording, received from the BBC, shows the emotional call, who tells the dispatcher how he found the two bodies.
“No, they don’t move,” he says in the audio. “Just send someone here really fast.”
The person who called as he stood outside the property and peered through a window is heard many times saying “damn”.
Hakman won the best Oscar actor because of his role as Jimmy’s Popay Doyle in the 1971 William Frodkin thriller, The French Link and another for the most supportive actor for the little Bill Bill Bill in the Western film of Clint Eastwood in 1992.
Hollywood’s relative, Hakman’s breathing came to his thirties when he was nominated for an Oscar to depict Buck Barrow in 1967. Bonnie and Clyde – against Warren Beatty and Fay Dunaway – and again for my father never sing for my father in 1970.
Both films saw him recognized in the category of the supporting actor. He was also nominated for the most leading actor in 1988 to play the FBI agent in Mississippi Berne.
He played more than 100 roles during his career, including Super Sound Lex Luture in the Christopher Reeve Superman films in the 1970s and 1980s.
Hakman participated in many other Hollywood heavy weights, including Al Pacino in 1973. Scarecrow and Jean Wilder through young Frankenstein since 1974.
His last big screen appearance came as Monroe Cole in Welcome to Mooseport in 2004, after which he gave way to Hollywood for a quieter life in New Mexico.
