As early voting begins and Election Day is just 15 days away, Senator J.D. Vance is scheduled to host a campaign event at Silver Legacy in Reno on Wednesday, October 23 at 1:30 p.m. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. This is Vance’s second trip to Reno since he was announced as former President Trump’s vice president.
Last July, Vance visited Reno as part of a campaign rally in Washoe County, a key swing district for the campaign as Trump seeks to win Nevada as the Republican nominee for US president, a feat no Republican has won since 2004.
Vice President Kamala Harris still hasn’t stopped campaigning in Washoe County and is relying on surrogates, including her husband and Deputy Prime Minister Tim Waltz, to campaign on her behalf. Despite her previous comments that 18-24-year-olds are “stupid,” she, along with Democratic Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar, targeted that demographic with text messages to get out the vote on behalf of Democrats.
When The Globe asked JD Vance about his message to Gen Z voters, Vance told The Globe, “My point would be that President Trump and I want to make it possible for you to live your dreams. I think part of it is making sure you have a good job and you work hard.”
According to the press release, Vance’s announcement will reiterate Trump’s economic plan to reduce household spending, which has risen sharply since the Biden-Harris administration took office in January 2021. The economic plan also includes eliminating the gratuity tax for hospitality workers and eliminate taxes on overtime pay.
