What is Jazz4kids?

If you have little ones who love music (or just want to introduce them to something new), Jazz4kids is a great place to start. This is not your typical sitting and listening concert-it is interactive, engaging and completely comfortable for children. The children will experience the joy of live jazz, meet professional musicians, and even try real tools before the show.

Why should you go?

Jazz is a cornerstone of American music history, known for its vital energy, rich story and incomparable creativity. At the concert, the children will get a chance to see how jazz works closely – how musicians improvise, how different instruments gather to create incredible sound and how music can tell a story.

This performance is additionally special. The concert will include music from SRJO’s main stage program Ray Charles and Quincy Jones on Jackson Street, celebrating two legendary performers and their deep ties with Seattle’s jazz scene. This is a fantastic way for children to hear incredible music and connect with the rich story behind it.

The best part? The Petting Zoo tool!

Did we get your attention? Before the concert begins, families can check the zoo of the instrument – yes, it is as cool as it sounds. Host by Kennelly Keys, Kids Touch, play and experiments with various tools in the orchestra’s pit before the show (starts at 15:00). Whether it is trumpet, saxophone or drums, this is the perfect way for the little ones to find what makes jazz so special – and maybe excite them from what they can play in the future.
