The Southern Miss Golden Eagles and James Madison Dukes meet Saturday in college football action from Bridgefort Stadium. Here is the prediction for James Madison vs. Southern Miss. We’ll take a look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best picks for James Madison vs. Southern Miss.

Southern Miss Golden Eagles betting preview

The Eagles opened the year with a blowout loss against Kentucky, but followed that up with a 35-10 win over Southeastern Louisiana in game two. Then came a string of losses to South Florida, Jacksonville State, Louisiana and LA-Monroe.

In the Arkansas State game, the Eagles gave up 21 points in the first quarter and 13 more in the third during the 44-28 loss. QB Ethan Crawford recorded 187 yards and a rush while leading the rushing attack with 87 yards and two scores on 26 carries.

James Madison Dukes betting preview

On the Dukes side, they started the streak 4-0 with wins against Charlotte, Gardner-Webb, North Carolina and Ball State. James Madison dropped its first loss of the year to LA-Monroe, 21-19, but then beat Coastal Carolina in game six.

In a game against Georgia Southern last weekend, the Dukes were outscored 21-0 in the first half and ended up losing 28-14. Alonza Barnett threw for 186 yards and a TD. Omarion Dollison caught the score among his three receptions for 51 yards.

James Madison vs. Southern Miss Prediction

I’ll stick with James Madison. He probably doesn’t touch it though. The Dukes totaled just 253 yards (186 passing) and 16 first downs in their last loss to Georgia Southern. JMU drove four times, but also committed 10 penalties and went 9 of 13 on third down conversions. It turned out to be a very uneven match.

As for Southern Miss, they held the Red Wolves to 3 of 14 on third downs, but also gave up 281 yards rushing in their weekend loss. The Eagles had six penalties and three turnovers. Both teams could use a rebound effort here, but ultimately I think James Madison comes out with the cover.
