On January 24, 2025, James Jim Gilbert Kal, 82, died at home in Wilmington, North Carolina, after a long battle with cancer. Born August 7, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, son of the late Gilbert and the late Anne Cal. Linda’s beloved husband (Andia) Cal. John Robert Cal (Rachael Sinopoli) by Munhall, Steven James Kahl (Melissa) by Crofton, MD and Teresa Diana (Buddy Kinley) by Wilmington, NC. Natalie Ford Grandpa (Joey), Brandon Kal (Courtney), Ryan Kal, Kylie Davis (Darek), Emily Kal (Ricky Kirchenbauer), Justin Kal, Andrew Kal and loved the Ileine Mc Nocha. Adalin Kirchenbauer’s great -grandfather, Noah Kal, Caden Kal and Delaney Davis. The brother of the late Robert Cal and Marjori (Cal) Demer.
Jim was a graduate of the Southern Vocational and Technical High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a proud veteran of the National Guard of Pennsylvania. He has worked at Machinist Management 20+ years in Bloom Engineering (PGH PA) and Purolator Facet, Inc. (Gso NC). In the early 90’s Jim and Linda moved to Carolina Beach, North Carolina, where they owned property rentals, managed their own business (Crystal Cleaning and Lawn Care) and enjoyed southern life. Jim enjoyed golf, card game and watched Pittsburgh Steelers. Jim donated his body to science in the hope of helping others. An official service will not be conducted. Instead of flowers, the memorial contributions can be made at the St. Jude Children’s Study Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org.
