Dallas Maverick Star Kiri Irving pursues a switch to present Australia at the 2028 Olympics, according to a report in Athlon SportsS

Irving was left on the US team list for Paris 2024 after winning gold with the team in 2016 and is now invading a potential change in his international basketball career, with the guard confirms that he works during the steps to become admissible for boomers.

“Man, we are currently in the process, we’re just trying to understand the best route to be right,” Irving said.

“There are many documents. Obviously the US still has the decision to make, but for me I just try to do what is best.

“Honestly, if I could be Aussie at one point in my career and play for the Australian team, that would be great.”

Irving, who will turn 36 at the time of the LA Games, was born in Melbourne while his father played basketball professionally in Australia and has dual citizenship. But changing national teams requires approval from basketball in the US, Australia Basketball and Fiba.

The 32-year-old is an average of 24.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists with Mavericks this season.

The boomers fell to Paris last year, went into a heartbreaking loss for overtime from Serbia in the quarterfinals.
