Irving police make arrest in fatal shooting of teenager – The Dallas Morning News

Irving police said Tuesday the department has made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a teenager over the weekend.

Police said in a news release that Khalil Philip Lavelle Townsend, 17, was arrested Monday and faces a murder charge in the death of Cedric Calhoun, 18. According to police, on Saturday around 3:10 p.m., officers were called to 160 block of Cowboys Parkway on reports of shots fired and found Calhoun dead.

Police have not said what in the investigation led them to identify Townsend as the suspected shooter. As of Tuesday afternoon, Townsend was in the Irving City Jail.
