Irvine sheltered residential complex opened again after repair of 3.5 million pounds

The upgraded housing accommodation in the Cheviot Court in Irvin is officially opened after a £ 3.5 million modernization program.

Provost Anthea Dickson celebrates the official opening of new homes that are fully transformed to residents.

The transformation has a complete external and internal repair of 22 properties delivered by the contractor Redpath Construction Ltd.

Modernization works include:

  • Installed new roofs and new solar PV panels
  • A new external isolated render and lining installed
  • Installed new windows and doors
  • Created additional bays for parking
  • Created a new shop for bin and drying areas
  • New kitchens and wet shower cabins in any property
  • Complete upgrading of heating and electrical systems, including fire alarm and warning systems
  • All municipal zones have been upgraded and created a new shop for scooters and guest services

Advisor Alan Hill, a member of the Cabinet of Islands and Community, said: “The Cheviot Court wards look fantastic and we are sure that residents will be delighted with their new environment.

“The renovation is part of a width program for £ 40 million to modernize eleven protected residential complexes in North Irshire.

“I am glad to see the work that is completed, which is beneficial for both the residents and the wider regeneration of the area.

“The homes are designed with the needs of our older residents, taking into account simple measures such as kitchen cladding, flooring and fittings that contrast to improve visibility, using the design principles suitable for dementia.

“I would like to thank you all the tenants for their support and patience during the works.”
