Dean Burnett, an ambulance assistant who also DJs in his spare time, was approached by a police officer who saw an article written by the Scottish Ambulance Service about him.
The employee had an idea for a charity event but wasn’t sure how to start it. Once Dean knew he had the right contacts to launch the event, he took the reins of the project.
The fundraiser was set up in the hope of raising £500 to secure a deposit for a place.
As a way to make money outside of fundraising is one of his colleagues plans to hold a race night, and his friends in the police and fire departments are trying to organize activities within their departments.
Currently waiting to hear from several places but most interested in Barras Art and Design in Glasgow for a meeting in August 2025.
Dean said: “By next week and after payday we’re hoping to clear what we need and once we get the deposit it can all go from there because Cash4Kids absolutely love the idea.
“If we can just get that, then we can start and hopefully it will become mainstream.”
Various big names showed enthusiasm for the event, such as DJs George Bowie, Gary Spence and Radio Clyde’s Cassie.
Dean made these connections while DJing for the Include Me To Club, an organization that organizes various events for children and adults with disabilities and additional support needs (ASN).
Cash4Kids was chosen as the charity supported by the event because of its importance to Glasgow and its links with Clyde 1.
All funds raised at the event through ticket sales and other funds will also be donated to charity.
Dean reveals that the response to the fundraiser has been overwhelmingly positive so far.
He said: “A lot of my colleagues and my family and friends love the idea and have said that if they could get time off work they would definitely be there.
“Everyone is really positive and upbeat about it and saying it’s well done, and it’s been very positive from the start.”
