Investigation continues after an accident at Scottsdale Airport – Newsbreak

The city of Scottsdale offered an update on Thursday morning, February 13, on an incident at Scottsdale Airport, which left a dead and several injured.

“The incident happened at 14:39 when a private jet seemed to have suffered a mechanical landing damage, diverted from the track and hit another plane parked near a private hangar adjacent to the track,” the announcement said.

The staff of airport operations and responding emergency activities acted quickly to assist participants in the accident and to provide the scene, the release continued. The track was closed for approximately six hours.

It was earlier that the incident included an airplane owned by the Motley Crue singer Vince Neal, although Neal was not on the plane at the time.

Two pilots and two passengers were on the airplane owned by Neal, Learjet 35A, according to a statement by Neil’s lawyer on the Facebook group page.

– Mr. Neal’s thoughts and prayers come out to all participating, and he is grateful for the critical help of all the first respondents to support today, “the statement said.

Scotsdale Airport opened the track again at 8:38 pm Monday, February 10, and the operations continued normally after that. The main aircraft has been removed by NTSB researchers for a further study, the message explained.

“The Scottsdale airport team evaluates the support of the aviation community and the public during the response and the ongoing investigation,” the statement said.

More than 166,000 aircraft operations were carried out at an airport in Scottsdale in 2024, making it one of the busiest airports with a common aviation with a single aviation in the country, according to a statement.

“While incidents like this are rare, a reminder that safety is always a priority at the best airport,” the message said. “Scottsdale Airport is expanding the sincere gratitude of the first answers and local agencies for their professionalism and support during this incident and for being part of the team that helps the airport serve the aviation community every day as possible as possible.”

Additional details about the cause of the accident will be released from NTSB when available.

After the incident, one person was reported dead and two people were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Another was taken to hospital but was stable on the day of the accident, according to the captain of the Fire Service of Scottsdale Dave Foil. A fifth person refused treatment.

Scotsdale Mayor Lisa Borovski made a statement after the incident.

“On behalf of the city of Scottsdale, we offer our deepest condolences to those involved in the accident and for those who have been taken to our traumatic treatment center,” Borovski says in the release. “We will keep all affected by this tragedy in our prayers.
