Esther Matarranz doubled the fun on the way to No. 700.
Marchc recorded his second double double for the season, when UC Riverside’s women’s basketball team defeated the Cal State Bakersfield 60-48 on Saturday, January 25 for the 700th victory in the program history, which began in the 1971-72 season.
The 6-foot 2 senior striker had a key theft and shaping with 2 minutes to complete the CSU Bakersfield and return Highlanders to the Win column. Marchtz is 12 points, 10 rebounds, three thefts and one block.
“(This) was a big profit to protect his home court,” said chief coach Brian Langston. “Esther gave a huge performance in the second half.”
After retreating road losses from combined four points in UC San Diego and UC Irvine, UC Riverside lags early and lags behind 26-22 at the half.
In the third quarter Seneca Hakli and junior guard Jordin Marshall, they struck from long distances, sinking triplets when Highlanders erupted through an insult, locked themselves in the defense and led 44-32 leads in the fourth quarter.
Junior guard Makayla Rose made the theft and assist of a bucket by freshman Kaylani Polk, and Hakeli buried another 3-indicator when the UCR continued with 10-2.
“Our team really found its stream after the break,” Langston said. “I am proud of how we got together and closed it hard.”
UC Riverside’s crime slowed in the fourth quarter with only four points in the first 5-year minutes, but Matarranz pushed the ball and finished it at the other end to maintain the two-digit lead of the final zumer.
Matarranz’s Underudy, the sophomore of 6-1 Maya Chokano, had 12 career fights to help Highlanders control boards.
Haquely, a graduate transfer from northern Colorado, finished 6 out of 15 of the pitch (3 out of 5 of the 3-point scope) for career-high 17 points, and Rose added eight points and three assists.
UC Riverside (a total of 9-10, 5-4 Big West), which is 0-3 on the road in a conference game since early January, travels to play in UC Davis (12-7, 6-3) on Thursday, and in Cal Poly (9-10, 4-5) on Saturday.

The right guard Jaida Jackson (Valley View High) is a big reason for the worst hot series of Kal San Bernardino’s women’s team.
Coyotes (7-10 in general, 6-6 CCAA) have won four consecutive games and are again in the thick place race at the California College Athletic Association after the season.
Jackson, a graduate student, is an average of 12.6 points per match with 70 assists and 38 thefts this season.
She has 930 career points, ranking her 10th of all time in the history of CSUSB (January 28). It is also second for all time in assists (318) and third for all time in theft (208).
Baseball
While Riverside City College and Cal Poly Pomona played their annual pre -season series last weekend, Friday celebrates the official start of the local baseball season of college.
Cal State San Bernardino, a participant in the NCAA Division II World Series in 2023, is found with a series of three games against Azusa Pacific, which includes a two -headed Fiscalini Field in San Bernardino, starting from lunch on Saturday.
Broncos, which has a .610 winning percentage in 14 seasons under the coach Randy Beten, hosting a nationally -ranked Westmont for three games starting on Friday on the Scolinos Field in Pomona.
California Baptist began his season at Totman Stadium with a series of three games against Portland on February 14-16.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team gathered from an 11-point deficit to beat the Pomona-Pitzer 72-71 in double overtime on Saturday, January 25th. The Guard of the sophomore Raid Jones sank Zumer of 10 feet to force extraordinary time, and won it at 4.7 seconds. …
The Senior Brace Sapata (Alta Loma HS) had five goals and three thefts, as La Verne’s Water Polo team opened its season 21-9 over Redlands in CBU Lancer Aquatics Center in Riverside on Saturday, January 25th. Sapata was announced Sciac Player of the Week. … The Sophomore guard Nate Simon (Roosevelt) had 24 points, nine assists and six rebounds, as the Chaffy College men’s basketball extended its winning series to nine matches with a win of 110-102 over San Jackinto Peak on Monday, January 27. The Panthers (17-4 as a whole, 9-0 IEAC) have a lead from a game over the Valley of San Bernardino (17-4, 8-1) at the Athletic Conference of the Internal Empire.
