Laredo, Texas (KGNS) – Thousands of Mexican National Guards have created checkpoints along the US -Mexico border, causing mixed feelings among travelers.
After President Donald Trump agreed to pause at Mexico’s tariffs, in return, Mexican President Claudia Shainbaum kept his promise to send Guards to strengthen the border and break down on Fentanyl’s smuggling.
This morning, February 18, national guards were spotted inspecting several cars and trucks on the Mexican side of the International Bridge before moving to Laredo.
Drivers say checks can take a few minutes, causing two to three -hour delays.
The checks caused mixed feelings among drivers passing from Nuevo Larendo to Laredo. Drivers from other border cities, such as reynosa, claim that checks have caused up to four to six -hour delays.
