BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Authorities in Baton Rouge have confirmed that an inmate they say was wrongly released from the Carroll Carroll Detention Center is in custody Monday, January 27th.
According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Davis was dropped off at the Baton Rouge Hound Bus Station on Friday, January 24th. Multiple agencies worked to find him.
Davis was originally arrested in connection with a 2022 shooting that killed 37-year-old DeAndre Duncan. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail on charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
Authorities say Davis has been housed at East Carroll for several months and is not scheduled to return to EBR until his next court date on March 17.
Authorities say they are still trying to figure out why he was released.
