RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – With the colder months upon us, it’s the perfect time to start swimming lessons and get those skills up before summer. A new program offered in the area, Infant Swimming Resource is excited to launch its services to the Reno community. Children aged 6 months to 6 years are taught swimming survival skills to ensure they can help themselves out of a potentially life-threatening situation.
“This is critical, we are surrounded by bodies of water and swimming is just part of the way of life here, yet access to swimming facilities has been a challenge until recently with the opening of the Moana Pool. So I was really passionate about bringing that here because it wasn’t available when my kids were young and it’s so important and I want to be able to offer that to the youth of the Reno-Tahoe area moving forward,” shared Lynette Belin , one of Infant Swimming Resource’s (ISR) training instructors.
With a mission to ensure “no more children drown,” Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) uses a technique based on behavioral psychology and combines it with 10-minute daily lessons over a 6-week period. This structure ensures that children don’t tire too quickly, and the repetitive nature of these lessons leads to long-term retention.
