In Michigan farm country, water concerns are fueling a battle over biogas permits – MLive.com

FREMONT, Mich. — It was April 27, 2020, and Kathy Morrison suddenly found herself receiving calls and reports about a liquid waste product called “digestate” leaking from a nearby farm and flooding the backyard of a neighboring home.

Managers at the Fremont Regional Digester, which produced the foul-smelling liquid from waste from food processing and fertilizer, wanted to know where the problem was.
