Similar operations were also held in Austin, McAllen, San Antonio and Houston.
DALLAS – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 84 people in North Texas on Sunday during immigration enforcement operations, the agency confirmed.
The arrests were made in cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, including Dallas, Arlington, Fort Worth, Irving, Garland and Collin counties, according to a Dallas County Field Marshals spokesman.
The spokesman said those taken into custody were arrested for a variety of reasons, including drug or excessive charges. All detainees will go through processing at the Dulles field office before facing potential deportation, the spokesman said.
Just hours away, WFAA sister station KVUE reported that ICE was conducting similar enforcement operations in Austin, McAllen, San Antonio and the Houston area.
The actions follow President Donald Trump’s efforts to crack down on illegal immigration and speed up deportations. Shortly after taking office, Trump rescinded a directive that had previously banned immigration arrests in “sensitive” places, including churches and schools, as part of his broader immigration enforcement strategy.
While officials have emphasized a focus on public safety, these immigration enforcement operations have raised concerns among immigrant rights groups. On Sunday, hundreds of protesters gathered in Dallas and Fort Worth to voice their frustrations with Trump’s immigration-related executive orders.
According to a post on I ICE’s account, the agency made a total of 956 arrests nationwide on Sunday.
