After a heartbreaking loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Friday, Flau’jae Johnson and the LSU Tigers bounced back with a 64-51 win over the Texas A&M Aggies on Sunday. It was their 21st win overall of the 2024-2025 season.

During the postgame presser, Johnson detailed how the Kim Mulkey-coached team bounced back from the loss. The LSU coach has yet to win a game against Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks since joining the program in 2021. and that includes losing the 2024 SEC Championship.

“We were sitting (and) watching a movie. First, we looked at the things we did well. That’s where you have to start,” said the junior (5:50). “I was angry. I’m a competitor, I barely slept.

“But I was like, ‘Man, all the things we did good, all those things are fixable.’ The turnovers we had, the penalties, all those things are fixable, so we didn’t play our best, so we’ll be fine. “

In the conference loss against the Gamecocks, Flau’jae Johnson had 13 points on 6-of-18 from the floor, four rebounds, an assist and two steals in 33 minutes of action.

The junior guard fared better against the Aggies as he finished with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the floor and had five boards, two dimes and four blocks while playing 30 minutes.

Flau’jae Johnson credits his team’s improvement from an execution standpoint

While Flau’jae Johnson recognized the Tigers’ mistakes against the Gamecocks, she acknowledged the team’s improvement against the Aggies.

“From an execution standpoint, I think we made better adjustments,” Johnson said. “We saw how they keep a low stack. Coach said, ‘Put them up,’ we put them up and executed on different plays.

“I think that was really mature on our part to change some things as the game went on,” Johnson said. (6:42)

Johnson and the rest of the LSU Tigers will continue conference play on Thursday when they host the No. 15 Oklahoma Sooners.
