The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the Panthers were planned to play Melbourne’s power team, northern bears in Sydney, before heading to Las Vegas for their opening circle 1 season.

At the last moment, however, the storm decided to take a number of players from the NSW Cup side to use in their test in New Zealand.

The clash between the panthers and the bears was scheduled for last Saturday, but the Panthers decided not to move forward with the matches due to lack of quality in the randles of the opposition.

Morgan Harper, Ben Talty, Tui Katoa and Nathaniel Roache were among the names that would be taken from the bear side to travel to New Zealand.
