Hundreds of protesting actions for the Trump administration in rally in Nevada’s capital – Reno Gazette Journal

Hundreds of violent, optimistic protesters covered the block in front of Nevad Capitol in Carson City on Wednesday to protest against President Donald Trump’s actions and his administration.

Many wore domestic signs as cars passed, which went to support. The participants exploded in chants like “We will not go back”, “No ice of the attacks” and “No Trump, no KKK, without the fascist US.”

The event was part of the 50501 national rally, distributed through social media sites Reddit and Bluesky. The group name refers to 50 protests in 50 state capitals in one day.

Protesters gave a wide range of reasons for gathering: what they see as attacks against democracy, restrictive restrictions, reducing the financing of public services and targeted marginalized groups.

“This has come together quite organically,” said Kelly Clark, secretary of Carson City Democrats, holding a hand -attracted resistance sign.

“We noticed that it was a national protest against Trump and his administration and the actions that continue to dismantle the USAID and install (elon) representatives of Musk at the Ministry of Finance. And the way I feel is here to protect our government. “

She pointed to the people who hold protest signs and wave the US flag.

“It’s a democracy in action,” Welch said. “These people are patriots. These people are Americans and we see what is being destroyed – and what’s wrong – under this administration. “

In social media, supporters of 50501 describe the free group as “decentralized rapid response to the anti -democratic, destructive and in many cases illegal actions taken by the Trump administration”.

It is still strong two hours after its starting period, the protest was held not far from Nevada’s legislation, which began its session in 2025 this week. According to 50501 organizational documents, the plan is to keep protests monthly.

“Democracy is not like that”

Karen Jacobs of Reno said he did not want to feel helpless from what was happening in the country.

“I wanted to do something, even if it was just to show up in my body and hold a sign that reads,” We can’t stand it, “she said.

“That’s not how democracy works. Elon Musk was not chosen in any official position in this government. Donald Trump is acting illegally to try to assume democratic institutions and usurp the power of Congress, and we will not stand up for it. “

Technical billionaire Musk was the subject of almost as much protest signs as Trump at Carson City’s rally. One reads, “You can’t write a criminal without an elon.”

Musk is a designated “special civil servant” from the Trump administration with office space in the White House complex, where he runs unofficial clothing called the Ministry of Government Efficiency, or Dog.

Nevada’s ‘50501’ protest size

A number of present have expressed a surprise of the size of the protest.

“There are hundreds and hundreds of people here,” Jacobs said. “I didn’t expect that. It’s really nice. I hope it matters. “

There were no official numbers for the crowd.

The protesters were so many that they spilled across the street, where several dozens of people kept signs.

Several people have checked that she was well while detained on the edge of the protest with the Supreme Court in Nevada in the background.

Jenny Rosalez, a friend of Mata, said he was present at the event to show support for immigrants.

“My parents are immigrants and came here to give me a better life, so I am grateful for this opportunity,” she said.

Rosales thought it was important to speak publicly in order to oppose how President Trump presents many immigrants as violent.

“Yes, some are violent,” she said, “but not all of them at the moment is violent. They are here to have a job, to support their families back, wherever they are, and just be able to be able to to make some kind of life.

Long disks for about 50501 protesters

Ron Hunter from the hardcorn said he went to Renault’s protest instead of the one in Sacramento because he was closer.

“We were demolished after the election,” he said, “and this is our first time I come back and says,” Do you know what, not everyone believes in what the current president is doing. “

Megan Waldvogel drives even more – from Elko. She came the previous day with her two children to make signs with friends.

Her son Maximus, 12 years old, kept a reading sign: “The life of 1 child is worth more than any pistol.”
