Florida football began season 2024 with a disappointing loss to Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Dublin, Ireland. It was the result that many Seminole fans did not expect.
During the interview after the game, the chief football coach Mike Norvel expressed dissatisfaction with how the race was played. He was even asked about the lack of opportunities to return to Jailin Lucas, who is one of the fastest players in the team.
Lucas had an elite speed, and the fans fell over his skills, placing everyone out of season as someone who could be in the back, in the slot and even outside. The former Indiana and brother of the broad receiver Jahi Douglas was expected to play a big role in the crime.
However, Lucas recorded only two weeds for 13 yards and one intake for 5 yards against Georgia Tech. It was something that had to change. However, the horrific news hit when the Seminols played the Eagles of the Boston College next week, where Lucas received an injury at the end of the season.
Speedster returns to Talahassi for the 2025 season and is catching up speed and rehabilitation from his injury. It is always scary to be a smaller back (5’7 “) at speed and to try to recover from lower body injuries as you do not want to lose the speed you had.
On top of that, Seminoles hired former UCF Gus Malzahn football coach to make his new offensive coordinator. As a result, I wonder how Lucas will be used in the scheme if/when healthy.
The Seminols did not add another transfer to the back, but they acquired a four -star Ousman Kromah, which will enroll in Florida in the summer. Plus, they return pieces of veterans like Royel Williams and Casia Holmes.
With that said it is difficult to predict the Seminols to get Lucas many options, but to have at your disposal from players like Micahi Danzy and Jaylin Lucas can do wonders for Florida in the 2025 season.
