As for airports in the Wilmington area, most people think of Wilmington International Airport, perhaps better known for their three letters “Ilm”.

Where are these airports?

Wallace-Pecrer Airport serves both Duplin and Penter Counts and is located in Wallace. ODell Williamson Municipal Airport is located in Ocean Isle Beach and Cape Fear Regional Jetport is located on Oak Island, which are also beach cities in Brunswick.

What does the term “general aviation” mean?

The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum website defines “common aviation” as a “civil, non -commercial flight” and notes that there are more than 340,000 aviation aircraft worldwide, with 204,000 of those run by pilots in the United States
