Hotel in Durham Village County has collected a five -star rating on the Tripadvisor Internet Review site.
Thomas Wright House in Byers Green, a village near Willington, has won a positive reputation on the site with 463 “excellent” reviews – the highest rating that can be given by a reviewer.
It includes luxury rooms including spa and hot baths, and its restaurant is well considered by reviewers.
A Tripadvisor reviewer with the Liz user name said: “The best Sunday lunch so far !! Food portions were very generous, well represented, wonderful and hot served on hot plates and at a very reasonable price.
“A wonderful atmosphere and, although very busy, all the staff was friendly and professional.”
While another reviewer, Andrew G said, “Thomas Wright’s house hosted the 80th birthday for us last night and the whole experience was perfect to finish.
“It was easy to book and used the functional room above. This is a large size room for up to 20 guests, beautifully decorated for the occasion, warm and cozy and completely private.
“The staff was very friendly and attentive, checking on a regular basis to make sure we were comfortable. The food was superb and large portions and a really good value of money. A brilliant experience and we will come back in the future.”
