Hong Kong actor Gilbert Lam has revealed that he has been ill for over a month, Chinese press reported.
In a video uploaded to social media, the 62-year-old can be seen moving slowly as he tries to get out of bed.
Lam, who was seen wearing a brace, then shared that his sciatica had flared up again, leaving him unable to stand or sit comfortably for over a month.
The former ATV star now relies on a walker to get around.
“Something as simple as walking can be taken away from you just like that, leaving you completely unable to move.
“Health is truly priceless. Cherish it and those who care about you,” he said, adding that his injury stemmed from overwork during his acting days.
Over the past month, Lam has undergone various treatments – including hospitalization, acupuncture and physical therapy.
The The good old days the star added that his condition not only affected his ability to walk, but also left him with no appetite, causing him to lose 7kg.
“I was able to manage a few days ago, but the nerves in my legs are acting up again.
“I have to see the doctor for further treatment. Hopefully this will be my last visit,” he said, adding that the whole ordeal had been painful.
Lam has reportedly suffered from sciatica for years.
The National Service website describes sciatica as a condition where the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back to the legs, becomes compressed or irritated.
Symptoms include stabbing pains, numbness, tingling, or weakness in the lower back, legs, or feet.
