Montpelier, VT. (WCAX) – Monday is the International Day of Holocaust Remembrance, and here in Vermont Group gathered in Montpellier to mourn the lost lives.
Monday celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland.
The head of Vermont/New Hampshire with a Jewish voice for peace, organizes the event held on the grass of the state.
Descendants of Holocaust survivors and other genocides spoke in front of the crowd. Organizers say that this day is to admit the horrific loss of life that has occurred in the Nazi genocide and to prevent future genocides again.
The group will return to the State House on Tuesday, January 28, for a day of legislative advocacy.
