And while further international success remains a big ambition, Garber is keeping both feet on the ground as he ramps up preparations for next season.

She said: “It’s so easy to have that goal in mind that you don’t know how to get there and it’s important to have that goal, but you need small steps to get there because those steps are more attainable.

“My family has always been very positive thinking and made me look at things from different perspectives in life and taught me to be grateful.

“My whole family has supported me throughout my life and is a big part of my life. I have always played sports; netball, high jump and I stuck with the high jump and I’m grateful because I like it.’

And with the financial help provided by SportsAid playing an important role in supporting Garber’s athletic ambitions, the 19-year-old expressed her gratitude to the organization for their support in helping her deal with the challenges that come with life as an elite-level athlete. .

Garber added: “There aren’t many charities or academies that support young up-and-coming athletes, so it’s really good that SportsAid and other academies and companies like this are looking out for and getting to know these athletes.

“This is an incredible opportunity. It gives us hope that we can do it and that people support us. All the extra programs they do, all the seminars and online courses just help a lot.

“Athletics is an individual sport. You have to travel alone everywhere. I work full time. It helped me a lot, not only the financial support they give us this year, but also the knowledge from the seminars and the opportunities they give us athletes. It’s all really helpful.”
