Hialeah Gardens Woman accused of Dui’s murder after crash at Kills Passenger Lake – WPLG Local 10

Hialeah Gardens, FLA. – Authorities arrested a senior one month after a deadly New Year’s disaster in her Hialeah Gardens Condominium Complex. Investigators said she was drunk behind the wheel when she was inserted into a lake, killing her passenger.

The 72 -year -old Julia Vega was removed on charges of DUI murder at Knight’s correction center on Turner Guilford on Friday.

According to the Miami-Dad Sheriff’s office, whose detectives have investigated the case, the crash happened in a lake behind the condominium of Vista del Lago at 9915 W. Okeechobee Road.

A MDSO arrest report states that Vega entered the complex around 11:00 pm with 69-year-old Pintor Elsa at the passenger’s place. The deputies said when she was passing through the parking lot, she “suddenly accelerated”, hitting a yellow pillar and a chain fence before stabbing her car into the lake.

Authorities said Vega began to escape from the vehicle, and the arriving sergeant of the Hyaleya Gardens police came across “to hang out of the driver’s window who screams for help.”

The sergeant threw a rope to Vega and pulled it for safety, the report said. But Pinth was still trapped in the sinking vehicle.

The crews of the Miami-Dad fire rescue crews removed a gun from the vehicle and took her to Hialeah Hospital with a “weak pulse”. But the doctors would later give her dead.

Vega was unharmed and “smeared his words, stumbling on a flat land and (there was) blood shooting watery eyes,” while investigators tried to talk to her at the scene, the deputies said.

After being told by a detective with the then police department in Miami-Dad that an employee of DUI was called to test her for disability, she said: “I’m not drunk, we had wine only in Cooper’s hawks,” the report states.

Vega failed the sobriety tests, and the police received a blood towing order, the report said. Investigators said the results came on Wednesday and show that it had a blood alcohol content of nearly 0.15%, almost twice as large as the legal border.

She also tests positively for the Alprazolam prescription drug, more known as Xanax.

Prison records show that Vega has been kept on a $ 50,000 bond since Monday and ordered to be at house arrest if he is released.

It was not held in a facility in Miami-Dad County since Monday afternoon, these records show.
