LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Just 29 days away from the second annual Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix — with anticipation comes closures.
Upcoming track preparation on the Las Vegas Strip includes the installation of track lighting and barriers. The teams are ready to start work from October 28th to November 10th.
Las Vegas Boulevard
- Nighttime lane reductions from midnight to 9 a.m. will continue Monday through Friday through Nov. 1 from Spring Mountain Road to Harmon Avenue to install track lighting — one lane in each direction will always be open. Various left turn lanes on Las Vegas Boulevard will be affected throughout the day.
- Bellagio Fountain Club installation continues through Nov. 20 with two southbound lanes closed from Flamingo Road to Bellagio Drive. The Bellagio Las Vegas Hotel and Casino will remain open during construction, with periodic lane changes expected.
- The sidewalk between Flamingo Road and Bellagio Drive will remain closed to pedestrians. Guests can use the nearby pedestrian bridges and sidewalks across Las Vegas Boulevard.
Pedestrian bridges over Las Vegas Boulevard
Three pedestrian bridges will be closed overnight and will be open outside these hours.
- The Cromwell to Caesars (Flamingo North) Pedestrian Bridge on Las Vegas Boulevard north of Flamingo Road: Closed from 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. November 3 through November 6
- The Venetian (Sands South) Las Vegas Boulevard Pedestrian Bridge at Sirens Cove Boulevard: Midnight to 9 a.m. November 7 through November 11.
- Planet Hollywood next to the Cosmopolitan Pedestrian Bridge (Harmon North) at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue: midnight to 9 a.m. Nov. 7 through Nov. 11.
Sands Ave
- Overnight lane reductions for track barrier installation will take place from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. October 27 through November 1—one lane in each direction will remain open during the overnight closures.
- During the day, passing lanes will be limited to two lanes in each direction, the MSG Sphere lanes will be closed, the intersection of Koval Lane and Sands Avenue will have limited traffic, and there will be signal changes at various intersections on Sands Avenue.
- Nighttime lane reductions will be from 9:00pm to 6:00am Sunday to Friday November 3 to November 15 for barrier installation—one lane in each direction will always be open during the night closures.
- The Wynn to Venetian Pedestrian Bridge on Sands Avenue will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. from November 3 to November 6 and will be open outside of these hours.
Blacksmith Lane
- Koval Lane at the intersection of Koval Lane and Flamingo Road will be closed from 9pm to 6am from November 6 to November 7 to construct a footbridge on the north side of Flamingo Road.
- Access to Jay’s Market/Shell Gas Station is available on Flamingo Road.
Other locations
- Overnight single lane closures continue at various locations for track lighting testing and commissioning. Places throughout the circuit are not predetermined and are subject to change.
- Track barrier opening and quality control are scheduled to take place during the week of November 4, with two lanes closed overnight at various locations around the track. During the day, there will be no impact on the roadway.
RTC transit impact
Three bus stops along Sands Avenue will be closed, including:
- Stop 2572 – Spring Mountain Avenue westbound after Las Vegas Boulevard will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday, October 28 through Wednesday, October 30
- Stop 2504 – Sands Avenue eastbound after Koval Lane will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 30 to Friday, November 1
- Stop 2505 – Sands Avenue westbound after Koval Lane will be closed until further notice
Seven bus stops along Koval Lane will be closed until further notice, including:
- Stop 1253 – north on Koval Lane after Rochelle Avenue
- Stop 1248 – northbound Koval Lane after Flamingo Road
- Stop 1259 – north on Koval Lane after Westchester Drive
- Stop 1260 – south on Koval Lane after Krueger Drive
- Stop 1261 – south on Koval Lane after Winnick Avenue
- Stop 1249 – southbound Koval Lane after Flamingo Road
- Stop 1247 – southbound Koval Lane before Rochelle Avenue
