Last month, it was reported that three hotel restaurants/bars in Boston’s Back Bay would be closing, and now we’ve learned that all three will be replaced by new locations, though so far only two have names and opening dates.
According to a Time Out article, Sweeney’s on Boylston plans to open in the space at the Lenox Hotel where Solas currently lives, while The Irving is looking to open in the space that currently houses City Bar. The article mentions that Sweeney’s, like Solas, will be an Irish pub, while The Irving will continue City Bar’s bar/cocktail lounge theme, and both plan to open on November 1st, with Solas and City Bar remaining open until then .
Time Out also says that an as-yet-unnamed restaurant will replace City Table early next year, and that City Table will remain open until renovations to the space begin early next year. (All three concepts are headed by hospitality veteran Daniel Kenny, whose most recent position was executive chef at the Liberty Hotel.)
