The Polar Flood returns, inviting community members to get involved in the fun while supporting the Special Olympics Arizona. The annual event hosted of the Scottsdale Police Department helps raise critical resources for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

Special Olympics programs are beneficial for over 20,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the country, but only some of these people have access to the full support they need. The funds raised through Polar Plunge’s event helps to overcome this precipice, helping athletes to reach their full potential on and off the pitch.

“This is an incredible opportunity for law enforcement agencies to unite with the community and have a real impact by raising awareness and vital resources for the special Arizona Olympics,” said Mike Burnett, director of the Arizona Law enforcement. “These athletes rely on our support now more than ever, and this is our chance to show ourselves and make a change in our lives.”

Located in the water center of Chapalral Park (5445 Hayden Road, Scottsdale) and takes place on February 22 raising $ 10,000 funds.

If the immersion is not your thing, there will also be a dipping tank, including Assistant Police Chiefs of Scottsdale, live music, snacks and coffee from Starbucks and coffee beans and tea leaf and costume competition.

“The need for these funds is urgent and together we can guarantee that these athletes have resources to continue to be distinguished,” Burnet said.
