Heli says she plans to run for re -election – Wbur News

Governor Maura Heli intends to run for re -election in 2026, she said on Friday.

“When [Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll] And I started, we were on our opening address, which we wanted to do. We wanted to get after a home and wanted to receive after transportation, we wanted to reduce taxes, we wanted to make investments in education, “Helly said on GBH radio on Friday.” And I have the feeling that we have done all these things, and there is a devil of many more things to do. And so I plan to run for re -election because there are many more things to do. “

The Democrat was the first woman and the first open gay candidate, elected as governor of Massachusetts, and is halfway through his term of office. During her first two years, she signed basic laws related to the stimulation of housing development, expansion of clean energy, further regulates hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry and reduces tax reductions.

Its administration is also burdened with the processing of a number of crises, including: the increasing number of homeless families setting logistics and financial strains of emergency shelters, and a hospital system with a profit that collapsed last year, closed two hospitals.

“So far, I’m really proud of the recording,” Heli said on Friday.

Subsequently, she added: “I love my job, I feel incredibly privileged to be in this position and I would like to be able to continue working for the great people of this country.”

Heli is very interested in national policy, but in the near future there are no places that have no federal seats. The US Democrat Senator ED said it plans to run for re -election in 2026. President Donald Trump’s election also closed the door for every Democrat at the Massachusetts Civil Service, who may have been looking to join the Kamala Harris administration.

Several Republicans are also reported to be looking at the corner office.

Former Minister of Housing and Economic Development, Mike Kenelli, is seriously considering a governoring campaign, Boston Herald told last month, and Senator Peter Durant told Wbur that he would decide whether he would make an offer this spring.

Kneli was secretary of the cabinet with former governor Charlie Baker, and now serves as a senior advisor and chief strategic director in the clubs for boys and girls in Boston. Durant won recent Senate special elections after spending years in the House and has become one of the most vocal opponents among the administrations chosen by the family shelter.
