RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Midtown Reno that left one person dead and three others injured early Saturday morning.
John Paul Seger, 42, was arrested at a home in the 400 block of Cedar St. in Reno less than 12 hours after he allegedly opened fire at a Midtown bar shortly after midnight.
Police responded to Shea’s Tavern on Nov. 2 for a report of a shooting and found four elderly victims with gunshot wounds. One of the victims died at the scene and the others were taken to a local hospital for treatment. One elderly man remains in a critical condition, while another man and woman are considered stable.
Sager faces one count of open murder, three counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and being prohibited from possessing a handgun after the shooting.
Although a motive has not been determined, police believe the fatal shooting was isolated and there is no particular threat to the public.
HAZMAT team members were outside the bar most of Saturday clearing the scene and cleaning up any biohazardous materials on the sidewalk.
Investigators still want to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the shooting. If you were in the area and saw the shooting, you should contact the police or Secret Witness immediately.
According to the Nevada Department of Corrections inmate search, Seger had spent time in prison before this arrest for assault with a deadly weapon.
