Heart Gallery of Lubbock helps children aged out of foster care – KCBD

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Heart Gallery Panhandle Plains is dedicated to connecting children with their forever families before they grow old without care.

Program Director Jamie Havens explains their mission: “What we’re doing on the front end of this is that while they’re in the foster care system, our hope is to be able to connect them with family and help them have a sense of belonging. “

To address these challenges, Heart Gallery offers support designed to provide families with emotional and practical resources to navigate the adoption process.

Havens emphasizes the need to foster a sense of community. With over 1,200 young adults in Texas exiting foster care each year without being adopted, the need for effective support systems is critical.

On Friday, Heart Gallery will present a $263,000 grant aimed at improving support services for adoptive families, distributed to two local organizations: Texas Boys & Girls Ranch and Spring Therapy Group.

“It will help them not feel so alone and so isolated,” Havens said.
