Hearing to decide whether former BRPD crime employees can recover the job delayed indefinitely – WBRZ

Baton Rouge – a hearing to determine whether three former Baton Rouge police officers can get their job back is postponed indefinitely.

Doug Chute, Todd Thomas and Troy Lawrence -Seni say that they did not have to be fired, since the technical error in the investigation of the department violated the bill on the employee’s rights.

In 2020, all three former officers were accused of defeating a man in custody and throwing a video of the bodily chamber as part of the already distracted street crime department.

Following the meeting of last month, in which the Council of the Civil Service voted not to provide a summary decision and instead to have a full hearing, the employees filed a request for a court review of this decision, which means that it is now in the process of appeal.

“The process of appeal can take months,” BRPD lawyer Jim Raines said. “It delayed things, which slows down the chance of them to be returned to work in the department.”

The Council’s decision to “continue without a date” means that they will not consider the issue until the appeal process is resolved.

The hammer, Thomas and Lawrence pleaded guilty to criminal charges, which they encounter on the basis of the allegations. They expect a lawsuit for abuse and obstruction of justice.
