Healy Towers residents require actions over living conditions – WXLV

Winston-Salem, Healy Towers NCs require answers from management and city officials, claiming they are also neglecting abuse in their residential building. Concerns about poor air quality and insect infection encouraged residents to form Healy Tower United, a group that advocates for improvements.

“It is a pity that residents must stand out there to talk about the basic living conditions. The very thing that each of us wants for our loved ones,” says Philip Carter, a volunteer with housing justice now, an organization supporting the residents.

Residents say they face threats of expulsion for speech. Carter emphasized the impact on low -income people, saying: “People who are at low incomes are more affected than others, people who are homeless, who need to move to the spot, and although they are destroyed, they are outside the cold. “

In response, Winston-Salem’s housing body described the collection as an effort to mislead the public. They said they maintained good relations with residents and seriously accept complaints by providing a report on work contracts. However, some residents claim that their main concerns remain unresolved.

“These are problems that have been talked about for months, if not years and something needs to be done,” Carter said.

Residents promise to continue their impetus for change, while the housing body denies any claims to neglect or revenge.
