Hard-fought battle ends in a tie – Concordia University Irvine Athletics

Irvine, California. – In an all-out battle against the Azusa Pacific Cougars, the CUI men’s soccer team failed to put a goal on the scoreboard. The Azusa Pacific Cougars also failed to score and the game eventually ended in a tie. A tough game for the Golden Eagles won’t go unrecognized and although the scoreline didn’t show it, the Green and Gold put in a memorable goalkeeping performance Andre Flores.

Flores made four saves on the day and held the Cougars to no goals. An outstanding outing by Flores sealed the tie for the Golden Eagles and kept the Cougars off the board. Flores is very close to having 200 career saves and has been a key part of the Golden Eagle defense throughout his career.

The momentum of the game seemed to swing back and forth between the Golden Eagles and the Cougars, and neither team was able to keep the momentum on their side for the rest of the game.

A very intense contest today resulted in a total of six yellow cards, three of which went to the Golden Eagles and the other three to the Cougars.

The Golden Eagles will travel to San Rafael this upcoming week to face the Dominican Penguins in a Halloween game on October 31st.
