The Reno High Baseball Program runs its annual “First Dinner” next month, entitled by the Duo of Buddy’s Buddie, and the current Nevada and Husky Alum Caedon Kotinger.
The event is scheduled for February 2 from 5:00 pm in the Peppermill Tuscany ballroom and has dinner, silent auction and live auction. The revenue from the event goes to support the field, equipment, uniforms and more financial support for the Reno High baseball season of 2025. Renault High is the coach of longtime chief coach Pete Savage, who has led the 1995 Huskis program . And he is the most fierce chief coach in the history of the Silver State with more than 800 wins. Under Savage, Reno High won 15 regional state crown titles in 2004.
Buddy Goodsmith is the head of the Kansas City Royals area of MLB since 2019 after serving as assistant coach in New Mexico (2015-18) and an associate coach in Nevada at Gary Powers (2010-13). Gouldsmith was the chief coach of the UnlV baseball from 2004-10, directing the rebels to two Mountain West tournament titles and the NCAA regional ports (2004, 05), as well as for the regular season title. He was the Mountain West Coach of the Year in 2005. Before serving as the chief coach of UNLV, Gouldsmith was an assistant at UNLV, Tulane, American River JC and Consumes River College.
Buddy’s son, Gunner, was chosen in the 19th round with the 556th total choice of athletics in the MLB 2024 draft. Gulsmith visits Renault Hi as a junior and senior before graduating in 2020. He began his career at college at college at Washington State and then played for three seasons in Sacramento. As a senior in 2024, he struck .318 with four homes and 38 RBI. As a junior, he struck .373 with three homes. Gouldsmith was appointed to the second-WAC team, while being a defense defense team of all WAC.
Renault Kaden Kaden Koner -born graduated from Renault High in 2020. He won honors from North Nevada of the Year, as well as honors from the first team and honors throughout the league as Jr. The next three seasons in UCLA under Savage brother, John. During the three seasons of the Bruins Cotttinger with 2022-24, he appeared in 32 participations from Bulpen, compiling ERA of 9.19 with 21 penalties in 31.1 submissions. He has one season of eligibility left with The Wolf Pack this spring under third year’s head coach Jake McKinley.
