Grinch of Lubbock, Jay ‘Bama’ Moore, Honored by City of Lubbock – KCBD

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – While his character may have stolen Christmas, Lubbock’s Grinch is known for his giving.

Jay “Bama” Moore is best known for his work as the Grinch here downtown, but his job is more than just spreading holiday cheer.

Moore used it to create meaningful change by providing clothing, financial support and toys to those in need through his nonprofit organization, Team Bama.

The city of Lubbock presented him with a certificate of recognition Wednesday in honor of the work he has done for the community.

Bama told us he’s grateful for the award and hopes it inspires others to follow in his footsteps and help the community.

“The next message is to be yourself,” Bama said. “There are a lot of things I’ve done in the past and I’m doing now that people might frown upon and maybe not understand. So be yourself, help someone else. I always say when someone needs something, help them and don’t do it expecting anything in return. Do it because it’s something you want to do from the bottom of your heart.

Bama was diagnosed with colon cancer late last year and announced that this holiday season would be his last year as the Grinch.

You can book it for your holiday celebrations from Thursday.

Bookings will open on his Team Bama Facebook page.
